WELCOME!
Welcome to “Scenery of North Kerry”, an exhibition and installation housed in “Bealtaine”, a unique and tiny gallery in Ballyduff, on the west coast of Ireland. It has been designed by Bob Scott, an artist who moved to the area about eleven years ago, as a celebration of the beauty of North Kerry. To get an overview, scroll down this homepage, then use the links above the pictures, or at the top of the pages, to take you to the various sections. Scroll straight to the bottom for links to Bob's other websites and contact information. The first section you might like to look at is the GALLERY:

Bob's gallery is a working studio, and the exhibition is more than pictures. It deliberately mixes the visual arts and theatrical usages of the word "scenery". (Hence the name is a "play" on words). Large “flats” lean against the wall, and paintings are stacked against breakwaters, and stored in fish boxes. The floor is a ruined cottage, and a beach. (Mind where you put your feet - The tide is coming in!) There are nearly 200 paintings, of all sizes. A quick way to get an overview of Bob's work is to look at the selection in RECENT WORK:

This is just one of 110 images organised into 11 themes which form the heart of this website. To see them, go to PAINTINGS: (To move between the groups in this section click on the “Back to Paintings” tab at the top left of each page. The individual paintings can then be opened from thumbnails at the bottom of each page).

This old barn is about half a mile from where Bob’s lives. His home village of Ballyduff has provided the subjects for many of the paintings. To illustrate the connection between the place and the paintings, and to introduce the locality to those not familiar with it, a selection of photographs is incorporated in the site: BALLYDUFF.

More photographs are included to illustrate the wider area. The beaches, cliffs, narrow winding back roads, old cottages and community gatherings all make fascinating subjects. To see more, look at NORTH KERRY:

Bob has painted in many other places, so a further selection. of his pictures, mostly done in England, Spain, and other parts of Ireland, is included. Because they are mostly painted on holidays, this section is called AWAY DAYS:

Bob's has sold many paintings over the past few years, so to complete the picture of his work, some of these are presented here: BEGINNINGS:

Bob’s work may be viewed on a number of other sites. To see all of his work (of which that shown here is only a selection) gathered in one place go to “MySpace”. Other selections of his paintings will be found on “Paintings I Love” and “ArtSlant”. “Flickr” shows more photographs of North Kerry. Bob is an active member of the Tralee Art Group, and is also involved in the organisation “North Kerry Together”. If you wish to visit Bob’s gallery please contact him on the e-mail address below. Visitors are very welcome. Because it is an exhibition it is here to be seen by as many people as possible, and there is no expectation that visitors will make any purchases. Just come and enjoy it.
